We just finished hanging a bunch of family photos in white frames down our hallway. I totally love it!
But then, the two Elizabeth Foster pieces we have suddenly looked out of place in their heavy brown frames. The problem was, I really liked the brown frames. It was a super hard decision, and some of you will probably scold me for this, but I decided to paint them!
The look is SO different.
This frame was especially pretty and it hurt me to paint it white... but I love it!
It just fits our decor so much better.
So are you all mad at me?
i like the white!
ReplyDeleteoh wow, i think they look awesome!!!
ReplyDeletelove, love, love!
ReplyDeleteI think the white gives them a whole new look. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how much the color of the frame affects the look of the art. The white really freshens everything up!
ReplyDeleteEEEEK!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave lady. I love the old look but the white does match better.
Looks great!!
I have sort of an unrelated question: I love the wainscoting you have down your hallway; did you do that yourself? We are buying a new house and I really want to put some up in our dining room. I'm just wondering how difficult it is to work with.
ReplyDeleteMy husband gets mad at me for painting frames and other things...I think they look great. The brown frames would have bugged me too.
ReplyDeleteTarrah-
ReplyDeleteThe chair rail was already there when we moved in, but we hired a friend to install the wainscoting. I don't think it was too tough, but it did involve measuring and power tools. The difference is pretty unbelievable, though! Good luck :)
Nope! I love it all!
ReplyDeleteI love the white...I did the same thing with all of my frames only I painted them black...lol
ReplyDeleteI really like the white frames.
ReplyDeleteI love the white frames
ReplyDeleteI would have done it too!
ReplyDeleteThey look crisp! I like it! But I understand your delema, I like the brown ones also.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I can understand how hard it was to paint them but I agree they go better now. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how it makes the white in the paintings pop. I'm not brave enough to do it-- yet. But I think it would look good here. I do like white frames.
ReplyDeleteCan I asked what kind of paint you used? Did you just tape and spraypaint or did you use a brush?
I thought I was going to be mad but they turned out great. I might have to try that color.
ReplyDeleteOoo, I love them now!! It's so fun watching your home come together so beautifully! It makes me so excited for when we own our own home one day :)
ReplyDeleteNo way, I LOVE the white. So much more modern and make the prints pop. Love how your house is coming together. Keep up the sewing!!!! I have a sewing and quilting blog here: http://missbutterflybs.blogspot.com
