I actually ended up using the same main fabric as the jacket in the example photo because I loved how charming it was :). I love that the coat has buttons, but didn't require any buttonholes!
I chose a super soft pink flannel for the lining.
It fits her perfectly! If you're really observant, you'll notice that in the photos of Lucy wearing it, there are pockets on the coat. I decided to add them because the "finished" coat, seemed like it was missing something. I LOVE the pockets!
Lucy seems to really like her new coat too. It's especially good for pretending to fly.

This makes me want to sew again, my little girl is 10..and I sewed so many fun things when she was little. I hope that she and I can perhaps design a few simple projects together. These posts really light a fire for me...
ReplyDeleteYour music makes the air taste sweeter...I just ordered 3 sets of CDs. I showed the youtube videos to my musical daughter as an example of writing musically so truthfully that it can strip a person of what they previously thought was important.

Anyway, I just bought this same sewing book for my mom for Mother's Day so that she had some new projects to work on for our little boy who is 18mo and our little girl due in September, and the coat was the first thing I asked my mom to make!!! Glad it turned out so well-it's adorable on her and I love the pockets :) Can't wait to read more of your blog and see what other creations you've done!
