It's done! It's a little big, so she'll have to grow into it, but isn't it cute?

Lucy's New Dress (In Process)
My wonderful mother bought this pretty pink fabric for me so that I could make something for Lucy. I'm pretty sure she bought it before Lucy was even born, but I'm just now getting around to using it. I actually cut out the fabric pieces several months ago so it was easy to jump back into this project. I still need to add a little ruffle at the bottom, but I'm really loving the way these two fabrics complement each other. I tried it on her this morning and it's still pretty big. It will be fun to see her wear a dress made by her mama!

High Chair
We just bought Lucy a new high chair. Boy does she look tiny when she sits in it.
It was fun to get some family time on a Sunday afternoon.
Lucy is really into pulling hair right now. Ouch!

Savers & Garage Sales
I had so much luck finding treasures recently. I forgot to take photos of the clothes I found for Lucy, but I plan to use this fabric I found at Savers to make something fun for her to wear (I won't use them together of course :). Click on the photo to see the fun, retro detail in the fabric.
I found these mason jars for $2 each... I bought five. I thought they'd be great for sewing notions or I could add some tea lights and use them for outdoor lighting.
I went to a few garage sales on saturday and found this red bookshelf and this side table. I want to paint the table either white or some other funky color, but I don't want to paint it until we know what our new house will look like.
Here's how they're being employed right now. I'm SO proud of my organized fabric!

A Change of Mat
I had a few obstacles to overcome while making this little changing mat for Lucy. My first problem was that I didn't have any batting or stuffing here in Phoenix (it's packed up in Nashville). I wanted to make a padded headrest for her like the one in her old changing mat, so I just folded some soft flannel and sewed it in! It worked perfectly.
The second problem was that I bought the wrong kind of bias tape. I should've bought much wider tape, but I didn't want to go back to the store to get the right kind. So, I just ironed what I had to have one fold down the middle... which meant that I would have exposed raw edges on both sides. I didn't want it all to fray, so I did a tight a zigzag stitch on the edge (which was almost the death of my sewing machine).
It's definitely not perfect, but it's pretty darn cute.
This is what it looks like all folded up.

Sewing Again
I am SO glad to be back home in Phoenix.. it means time to SEW and time to BLOG!!!! Today Pauly (Dave's mom) came over and we made lavender-filled sachets. They turned out so cute! Dave already put the one I made (left) in our car to mask the smell of the Lucy's liquid vitamins that we spilled on our long car ride from Denver to Phoenix. I hope it works!
I also made a ton of progress on the changing pad for Lucy. The photo below shows her current pad being used as my template for the new one. Don't worry... I'll post more photos tomorrow.
I used that oil cloth I bought in Denver and my sewing machine hated every second of it. I bent one needle, changed it, and bent then broke another one. I have no needles left... looks like I'll be making another trip to Joanne sometime soon. Actually, I'm hoping to upgrade my $125 machine for something a little more serious. Perhaps a machine that can make a buttonhole without also creating a hundred knots in the fabric. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Addendum
I was downloading the photos I took of my new fabric, and I came across these photos from camp that I had completely forgotten about. They're from western night during the our last week at Crooked Creek.

Project
I am SO looking forward to sewing sometime soon. I won't be home for another week or so, but at least I can dream, right? While in Denver, I visited one of my favorite fabric shops called The Fancy Tiger. I bought some pink and white oil cloth to make a new changing pad for Lucy.
And I bought a half yard each of these beauties (their use is yet to be determined).

Peas!
Lucy is starting to eat more solid foods. Of course, this doesn't mean that the food makes its way into her mouth every time.

Lucy's Curls
We gave lucy a bath a few days ago and realized that Lucy's hair is getting curly. Instead of brushing her hair down (like we normally do), we brushed it up just for fun. Here are a few post-bath photos:)

Bedtime Story
Lucy turns 7 months old today. It's so fun to read her a book right before bedtime.
She's starting to interact more and more with the story.

Photo Shoot #2
Dave shot some more photos of me as the sun was setting the other night at camp. I'm glad we were able to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings up here.

Lucy Crawls
At Lucy's 6 month appointment, the doctor said that our little girl would be crawling by July 4th. The second clip from the video below is from July 3rd.
