Grandma's Gift

Dave and I wanted to be creative in the way that we let his parents know that we were expecting. So, when I was about 10 weeks along, Alan and Pauly came out to visit us in Nashville. Since Pauly really enjoys knitting, we decided to give her a knitting book for her birthday. So... we bought her a book full of baby patterns. When she opened it I said, "Just make sure to have something done by December 6th." It took a moment for the reality to set in, but once it did, she started rejoicing like only a new grandmother can :). Grandpa took a little while longer to realize what we were celebrating, but once he did, he was just as excited.

She decided on a pattern for a little hooded sack, and I just got it in the mail a few days ago. I LOVE it! It is so soft and sweet. The crocheted flower on the hood is my favorite part. I'm looking forward to having a little Lucy to snuggle up with :).

Thank you Grandma Pauly!

Isn't it Ironic?

I have been healthy throughout my ENTIRE pregnancy... until now. I have a cold with only a week and a half to go! I've been trying to rest a ton, drink lots of water and leave the humidifier on through the night. I have a feeling that little miss Lucy might try to come early, so I've been praying that I'll feel better before going into labor. Either way, I'm trusting that God knows what He's doing, and He'll give me what I need to have great delivery. I am SO thankful for the peace He gives!

Dallas Pillow

I was recently commissioned to make a pillow like the one I made for Mitch...

Instead of Nashville, my client wanted the Dallas skyline. And although we both thought the spaceship was cute, leaves seemed to be a better choice for this new pillow.

It's all set and ready to be shipped on Monday!

Tomorrow...

I'll be 38 weeks pregnant. Only 2 more weeks!
Here's what Lucy probably looks like right now. She's fully formed and just putting on more weight at this point (she weighs a little less than 7 lbs according to my doctor's estimate). I'm expecting her to be pretty little and have lots of brown beautiful hair.

Dave guesses she's going to weigh 7 lbs, and my guess is 6 lbs, 10 oz. Anyone else want to play our little game?

Heather and Sammie

My friend Heather came out to visit for a few days and help us get ready for Lucy's arrival. Heather was one of my roommates in college, and now she lives in Kansas. It was so fun to meet her beautiful, five month-old daughter, Sammie.
Here she is modeling a onesie I made for her:

The three of us at the house:

We let Sammie try out Lucy's floor gym... I think she liked it :)

Hot Mama!

Tonight Dave and I had our first birthing class. He was the only man brave enough to don the "sympathy belly." We took these photos with our phone :)

Owl Make Another One Too...

Here is the first of two fabric "art" pieces that I've wanted to make for the nursery. The original plan was to make one with a bird and one with a tree, but this first one ended up containing both elements. Any ideas for the second one? I want to stick with an outdoorsy theme... maybe a squirrel? That could be cute. Umm... apparently I'm having a conversation with myself right now!

It turned out looking a little more store-bought than I was expecting, but I guess that's okay. Pottery Barn would be proud. I'll post more photos when I have them both hung up in the room. Then you can get an idea of how big it is.

Stockings

I decided that I wanted to make family stockings this year since it will be our first year at home for Christmas. We normally travel to the west coast to spend time with relatives for the holidays, but I don't think Lucy (or I) will be up for traveling this December. I'm REALLY excited to get a Christmas tree too. I want to put it in front of the big picture window in my sewing room. I'll be sure to post pictures when we get it!

In the meantime, here are some Heller stockings in progress...

This was my first attempt at this shot, but someone got in the way!

Here they are unobstructed.
