Today was Lucy's first day in a pool.
She's always a bit timid around water. Even when we give her a bath she looks mildly concerned.
Eventually she warmed up to it, AND she looks super cute in her seahorse swimsuit.

FOOD!
Lucy started eating rice cereal a few weeks ago and she cannot get enough of it.
She even likes holding her own spoon already.
She also likes spreading it all over her face and hands, and therefore has to take a bath after every feeding.

Reconnection
Facebook strikes again. I somehow managed to get in touch with my sophomore english teacher Tracey, and we found out that we have many things in common (including a love of sewing). When our little family was in San Jose a few days ago, we were able to get together for a lovely dinner and great conversation. She even took some REALLY great photos of our little Lucy. Which reminds me that I forgot to post a link to THESE awesome photos taken by my friend Sarah last month.

San Francisco
Our little Heller family took a day trip to San Francisco a few days ago and it was SO relaxing and wonderful.
We walked over to Ghirardelli Square (very touristy but very fun).
We spotted a super cute cupcake shop.
I was tempted to go inside for a taste, but I was holding out for one of my favorite desserts (stay tuned for the photo).
We went to Houston's, our favorite restaurant! We didn't have time for a meal, but we definitely had time for an ice cream sundae. I normally don't like chocolate sauce very much, but there is something magical about Houston's :)

lucy burrito
Lucy is becoming SO active these days! This is what happened when I set her down on a blanket for a few minutes. At 5 and a half months, she's a pro at rolling over, and is getting dangerously close to crawling.

Summer Day
We spent yesterday morning with our friend Alishia (who just gave birth a week and a half ago) and her kids. Here are a few photos from the back yard.

Butterflies
I found a few spare moments to sew my first pillow for the condo. Can I tell you how much I love this fabric? I wish I had bought more. I only have a little strip left of it!
Ummm... and I still haven't moved that picture :)

Bumbo!
Lucy just started using a bumbo seat! Our dear friend Heather loaned it to us, and Lucy is totally enjoying it. She looks so cute sitting up. I feel like she's turning into a little girl right in front of my eyes!

Mother's Day
This was my first official mother's day (I was pregnant for the last one, but it's not quite the same). We had SUCH a wonderful day full of some of my favorite photos so far...
Can you believe these bright eyes?
Grandma Pauly and Aunt Jes love little Lucy so much!
This is Dave's favorite pic.
Heller ladies :)
After dinner we spent some time at the park.
I'm so proud to be her mommy.

Pretty Play Rug
We found it! The perfect rug for Lucy's room. We got it at the same place where we bought the rug for the living room, and it was only $130! We looked it up online, and similar rugs by the same company sell for over $1000. I LOVE finding deals like this.
Now lucy finally has a place where we can play in her room.
See.. she's having fun already.

More Decorating...
We decided to put the office in the living room because the condo only has two bedrooms (one for us, one for Lucy). Our computer doubles as a TV... and so far so good. Most of the shows we watch are online anyway, so it works out pretty well.
Desk from Pier One Outlet store: $200
Vase from Pier One Outlet store: $15
cute stem-y things from Z Gallery: $3 each (I want to get two more to fill it out a bit more)
Nils armchair from Ikea: $80 (and yes... we still need to buy the $10 chair cover :)

Finally... A Project!
I am SO excited! I finally got to do a home-decorating project that involves fabric!
I found this LOVELY little number in Hermosa Beach, CA when we were there for a gig last weekend...
The condo has been in desperate need of some color other than beige, so I decided to do something quite daring.
I used the fabric to cover this large canvas (below) so generously given to us by our friends Scott and Carol. They said we had the freedom to do whatever we wanted with it.... so I did! I like the painting well enough, but it wasn't exactly what I wanted...
Here I am being a busy little bee. Just me and my staple gun.
And this is how it turned out :).
Doesn't it look happy?

28
Lucy just turned five months old on the sixth and she has already been on 28 flights! Unbelievable... I know. This is one of the reasons why I've been such a delinquent blogger of late. Our travels are beginning to slow down a bit, so I'm excited to start posting more.
Here's what a typical day at the airport looks like for the Hellers:

Budget Decorating Continued
Here's what our living room in our condo currently looks like. I kept meaning to take a better photo, but seeing how I have a hard time getting anything done, I thought I'd post what I had.
The piece of art on the wall is by Dave's grandmother who was an amazingly talented artist. We have a few of her pieces in Nashville, and I'm thrilled to have this lovely orange one in Phoenix. This is not where it's going to stay... there was just a nail already there, so I hung it there.
Ikea Ektorp couch and ottoman found on craigslist: $300
8x10 rug (with a big red stain carefully hidden under the couch): $100
