My Beautiful Birds!
I LOVE my new wallpaper! And I realize it's a bit of a cliche, but I can't help it... I love birds! Apparently, a lot of other people do too, hence this video:

It's so pretty and peaceful!
AND... to make things even more exciting, I bought this new jute rug at Ikea this week! It warms up the room so much. (side note: I don't know why there's a missing chair. Dave took this photo :).
The dining room is almost complete. I just need to figure out what i'm going to hang on the walls. We might want to get a buffet (to put on that right wall) and/or a piano (to put against the wallpaper wall) but for now, I'm so very pleased :).

I don't think it needs a darn thing more! I LOVE the wallpaper. If you add a piano it will cover some of the gorgeous birds! Where is the wallpaper from, btw? I, too, love birds!
I adore that wallpaper SO much. We're in a rent house and our landlords won't let us change the awful out-dated magnolia wallpaper, so we (on a seriously low budget) covered it with some red wrapping paper (with double sided tape) and it turned out pretty well. http://birchstreetbliss.blogspot.com/2011/01/that-darn-wallpaper.html
Seriously though, I'd much rather have the bird wallpaper. lol It makes it much easier to eat together as a family when you love the room you're eating in.
That is some really cute wallpaper, I love the look! The rug is perfect, completes the room.
I love birds too, my daughter is in the process of painting some pics for me, making branches w/ birds perched on them in silhouette. Can't wait for them to be finished.

JJ- I love your simple, but elegant style. You can pull a room together like its your job! My husband was looking at your blog last night with me and was really impressed. He said, "I would have never thought to do that, but it looks so good."
The video is a riot! Birds are definitely cuter and more peaceful on wallpaper than flying around in a panic in a gift shop. Can't wait to see the rug ... and the garden (I hope everything survived the cold).

Thanks everyone! The wallpaper was definitely a splurge... which became more of a splurge when I found out that I had to buy another whole roll of it (sorry husband!). It came from hyggeandwest.com. The light fixtures are from Pottery Barn, and they were my mother's day gift this year :).
Looks great! Having the wall paper on one wall makes a great focal point and the new rug is pretty terrific too!

You can take down the wall between the kitchen & dining room & convert it into a counter w/ a small "wine" rack on top & hanging wine glasses. It'll look roomier & at the same time you can be tending to your guests without having to stop the conversation. Worked for me. I can send you pics of my kitchen if you'd like.

i vote...NO piano in there. it would take away from the simplicity of the room. a nice sideboard or server would look good on that wall...maybe with a bird's nest and/or bird houses on it! love the rug you used...pulled it all together.

I just recently have become obsessed with birds, as well. I love the retro prints that would be amazing in my future renovated 50's bedroom and the more rustic birds that will dominate my nature inspired guest (Mom and Mother-n-law)room. I can't stop looking searching for that perfect pillow, fabric, print... Your room is amazing!

My first thought was "Warm"...it looks warm and inviting. Yes to sideboard/hutch....no to piano in that room.....not like I am anyone - and thanks for reminder of Jute....we just bought a dining set and I was trying to figure out what to put under the table that is simple for upkeep!
